We Are The Fire Artists

 

​We are an eclectic group of artists. Our art is functional, fabulous, and funky, crafted from nature's elements and born through fire.​

 

We work in clay, using centrifugal force, gravity, physical effort, patience, and perseverance to coax forms out of lumps of mud. 

​

Once crafted, the forms are allowed to dry, and are fired at high temperatures to remove moisture and solidify the form.

​

The pieces are then decorated with glazes, and are fired again. This stage allows the minerals and elements in the glazes and clay to react with the heat, oxygen, combustibles, and other environmental factors. This stage causes vitrification in many environments, which essentially coats the ceramic structure with glass, ensuring that the pieces are food safe.
